Chris Turpin

Chris Turpin is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Human Resource Management at the University of Richmond. With over 35 years of experience in human resources and operations across retail, manufacturing, and healthcare industries, he has held executive roles such as Chief Experience Officer and Chief Human Resources Officer. Currently, he serves as Chief Human Resources Officer at HandCraft Linen Services while teaching.

Research & Teaching Focus: Dr. Turpin specializes in strengthening core human resource competencies for professionals. He founded HR UPFRONT to bridge HR knowledge gaps and prepare candidates for aPHR, PHR, and SPHR certifications. His work emphasizes strategic HR management, leadership development, and organizational effectiveness in modern business environments.

Professional Involvement: Dr. Turpin has held key roles at Virginia Eye Institute (2000-2019), Virginia Ear, Nose, and Throat Associates, and Ukrop’s Super Markets (16 years). He actively connects his industry expertise with academic instruction to enhance HR education.
