Dr Chris Tang is a Lecturer in International Education & Applied Linguistics at King’s College London, affiliated with the School of Education, Communication & Society and the Centre for Language, Discourse & Communication. He holds a MA in Applied Linguistics and English Language Teaching (2009) and has 15+ years' EFL teaching experience. His research focuses on applied linguistic methodologies in public health communication, disaster risk reduction, and culturally diverse environments. Notable projects include:
- Improving pandemic communication for UK Bangladeshi communities
- Heatwave/cold spell warning systems using corpus linguistics
- Cognitive semantics analysis of risk discourse
He co-leads the Corpus Research in Linguistics and Beyond seminar series. Current grants include the £21k AHRC-funded 'Abundance Project' addressing mental health inequalities through cultural/green inclusion. His work intersects with UN SDGs 3 (Health), 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and 13 (Climate Action).
Recent publications analyze pandemic communication strategies, heatwave messaging effectiveness, and media framing of health risks.
