Dr. Chris Russell is a Senior Lecturer and Programme Lead for the Postgraduate Certificate in Dementia Studies at the University of Worcester’s School of Health and Wellbeing. He specializes in Dementia Studies, focusing on citizenship, human rights, leisure, and physical activity. His teaching includes modules such as 'Engagement and Empowerment in Dementia Studies,' and he contributes to undergraduate and postgraduate courses in social work, sports, and healthcare. Russell is a registered social worker and leads national and international training programs for care providers and sports staff.

Research Interests: Russell’s work explores the lived experience of dementia, leisure and fitness, identity, workforce development, and physical activity facilitation. His PhD research (2020) examined dementia patients’ experiences in fitness centers, leading to a funded project (2021–22) developing an online training course for staff supporting physical activity for dementia patients. Recent research includes a bid to investigate successful facilitation of physical activity for dementia populations.
