Chris Matzner is a Professor and Associate Graduate Chair at the University of Toronto's Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics, affiliated with the Dunlap Institute for Astronomy & Astrophysics. He earned his Ph.D. from UC Berkeley in 1999. His research focuses on astrophysical fluid dynamics, particularly star formation processes (protostellar disks, molecular clouds, energy feedback) and stellar explosions (supernovae, gamma-ray bursts), employing analytical, numerical, and observational approaches.
