Fabian Heitsch is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Physics & Astronomy at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. He leads the Astrophysical Fluid Dynamics Lab (AFDL@UNC), focusing on simulating how matter cycles through galaxies, including star formation from gas clouds and their explosive stellar endpoints. His work bridges theory and observation via supercomputer fluid dynamics simulations. He teaches interdisciplinary courses like 'Myths, Moons and Methods' with Professors Marc Lange (Philosophy) and James Rives (Classics), and plans a new course on science's societal role through SCiLL's curriculum.
