Chris Jones is a Research Professor of Biofilm Science & Technology at Montana State University's Center for Biofilm Engineering (CBE). He leads the Standardized Biofilm Methods Laboratory (SBML), focusing on developing validated protocols for biofilm analysis. His research emphasizes bacterial-surface interactions, biofilm formation mechanisms, and the prevention/treatment of biofilms in medical and environmental contexts.
He holds expertise in infectious diseases and molecular biology, with a focus on pathogens like P. aeruginosa and V. cholerae. Dr. Jones is actively involved in standardization efforts through ASTM International (subcommittee E35.15), bridging academic and industrial needs for regulatory-compliant methods. His prior industry role at Sharklet Technologies provided insights into translational research and regulatory challenges.
Key research themes include biofilm initiation, surface texture effects on pathogen transfer, and cyclic di-GMP signaling pathways. He collaborates globally to advance biofilm science, emphasizing reproducible methods and real-world applications.
