Dr Chris Jones is a Physician Scientist at the University of Exeter, affiliated with the Clinical and Biomedical Sciences department. He is a medical doctor specializing in infection medicine and completing specialty training in the South West region, with a focus on tropical diseases and global health challenges. His research has explored hepatitis C virus (HCV) and resistance to NS5A inhibitors, contributing to the development of direct-acting antivirals that have transformed HCV treatment. Currently, he leads a COG-UK funded genomic epidemiology project on nosocomial SARS-CoV-2 transmission at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, alongside Dr David Studholme, and collaborates with Prof Elaine Bignell's group at the MRC Centre for Medical Mycology.
