Chris Jeppesen

Chris Jeppesen is a Research Fellow in the Legacies of Enslavement at Trinity College, University of Cambridge. His work focuses on Modern British and imperial history, particularly Trinity College’s connections to enslavement economies and the British Empire. He explores themes like East India Company networks, post-decolonization material legacies, and British universities’ imperial ties.

Education: Studied at the Universities of St Andrews and Cambridge. Previous teaching roles include UCL, King’s College London, and the University of Cambridge.

Research interests include pre-Victorian empire, colonial officials’ motivations, and the impact of decolonization on British institutions. Recent projects examine post-1945 secondary education’s role in the welfare state and its decolonization dynamics.

Publications span topics like birth cohort studies, museum decolonization, and African decolonization. He collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, such as a project analyzing secondary education’s postwar evolution.
