Chris Hewes-Lewington

Dr Chris Hewes-Lewington serves as Senior Lecturer in Cyber Security and Course Leader for MSc Applied Cyber Security at the University of Suffolk's School of Business, Arts, Social Sciences and Technology. Joining in June 2019 after 20+ years in finance, telecommunications, defence and biotechnology sectors, he brings extensive industrial leadership experience from IT director to programmer roles.

His educational qualifications include:

• Pursuing MSc in Advanced Security and Digital Forensics (Edinburgh Napier University, NCSC-accredited)

Research spans from foundational Formal Methods and Distributed Technologies to contemporary cybersecurity challenges including post-quantum cryptography, ransomware mitigation, and ethics-law intersections in data privacy. Current work emphasizes zero-trust architectures, AI security applications, and OSINT with strong focus on regulatory frameworks.

His publication timeline reveals evolving expertise from 1990 VDM program derivation research to 2023 homomorphic encryption compilers, demonstrating consistent engagement with computing fundamentals while adapting to emerging threats like ransomware.
