Ashley Wood

Ashley Wood is a Lecturer and Programme Leader in the School of Computer and Engineering Sciences at the University of Chester. He teaches undergraduate and postgraduate modules including Foundations of Cybersecurity, Conducting Cybercrime Investigations, Research Methods, and Penetration Testing and Active Defence. He also leads the MSc Applied Artificial Intelligence programme. His research focuses on cybersecurity, specifically malware/ransomware analysis, digital forensics, penetration testing, and intrusion detection systems.

His research interests emphasize practical cybersecurity solutions, including ransomware behavior profiling and incident response strategies. His recent work includes developing the Talos prototype for intrusion detection and analyzing ransomware variant evolution.

Ashley supervises student dissertations and contributes to the University’s Sustainability and Environment Research and Knowledge Exchange Institute.
