Chris Carter is a Professor in Strategy and Organization at the University of Edinburgh Business School since 2013, with prior full professorships at Newcastle University (2011-2013) and University of St Andrews (2006-2011). He holds leadership roles as co-chair of the Scottish Fabian Society and serves on the Scottish Labour Party's Economic Advisory Board, alongside board memberships at EIASM and advisory roles at King's College London and Durham University.

Research Focus: An interdisciplinary scholar merging Organisation & Management Theory with Interdisciplinary Accounting, Carter's work centers on power dynamics, ESG implementation, digital entrepreneurship, and accountability mechanisms through Bourdieusian field theory. His research emphasizes real-world impact, evidenced by four REF 2021 impact case studies examining strategic action fields and cultural capital across political, business, and public sectors.
