Chris Bervoets

Chris Bervoets is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, KU Leuven, Belgium, affiliated with the Department of Neurosciences and the KU Leuven Brain Institute. His research focuses on neuromodulatory treatments for psychiatric disorders, particularly invasive (DBS) and non-invasive (rTMS, tDCS) approaches for conditions like Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD).

His research interests include:

Dr. Bervoets' recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on OCD research, particularly investigating biomarkers for symptom severity and optimizing neuromodulation treatments. His work spans clinical trials, neurophysiological measurements, and patient experience studies, with a particular emphasis on developing objective measures for OCD symptoms and improving neuromodulation techniques.

He serves as Co-promotor on research projects including 'Measuring brain activation non-invasively in freely moving healthy and neuropsychiatric human populations using functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS)' (2023-2024) and 'Pinpointing obsessive-compulsive symptom severity: Assessing hypersensitivity for symptom-eliciting visual cues using (frequency-tagging) EEG, eye tracking and stress physiology responses' (2022-2027).

Dr. Bervoets is actively involved in teaching courses related to neuromodulation and psychiatry at KU Leuven and serves on the Council of the Faculty of Medicine and the Council of the Department of Neurosciences as a member of senior academic staff.
