Professor Chris Ashford serves as Deputy Faculty Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research and Knowledge Exchange) and Professor of Law and Society in the Faculty of Business and Law at Northumbria University. As the University Senior Sponsor for LGBTQ+ Equality, his work bridges academic leadership and social justice advocacy. He holds an MA in Teaching & Learning and specializes in law and sexuality, queer theory, and transformative approaches to legal education.
His research examines:
- Normative challenges to sexual assumptions through queer theoretical frameworks
- Technology-enhanced pedagogy and apprenticeship models in legal training
- Regulatory impacts on LGBTQ+ communities and counter-cultural groups
- Pandemic-era adaptations of intimacy practices and their legal implications
