Dr. Chong Yong Lee is a Senior Research Fellow at the Intelligent Polymer Research Institute, University of Wollongong. He holds a PhD in Chemistry from Monash University and has held postdoctoral positions at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and the University of Cambridge (Marie Curie Research Fellow). His academic career focuses on sustainable energy solutions through inorganic catalysis.
- Education: PhD in Chemistry (Monash University)
His research centers on heterogeneous inorganic catalysts for small molecule activation (H2O, O2, CO2) to produce clean energy fuels. His multidisciplinary approach spans inorganic chemistry, electrochemistry, and translational research, including co-invention of licensed technology for a spin-out company. Recent publications highlight capillary-fed electrolysis cells, CO2 electroreduction, and graphene-based composites.
Scientific awards include the Marie Curie Research Fellowship and Vice Chancellor's Research Fellowship. His grants encompass internal and external funding, such as the Australia-China Young Scientists Exchange Program and UOW-ANSTO Collaborative Scheme. Supervision includes current and completed PhD projects in electrocatalysts and CO2 reduction.
