معرفی
Dr. Choe Young Jun is an Assistant Professor at the School of Biological Sciences, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. His research focuses on the interface of biology and engineering, particularly in biomedical sciences and life sciences.
Dr. Choe's research interests span multiple disciplines:
- Biology and Engineering interface
- Protein aggregation mechanisms
- Amyloid fibril engineering
- Protein homeostasis
- Biomedical sciences
- Life sciences
His work explores the fundamental mechanisms of protein behavior with potential applications in biomedical engineering. Dr. Choe has investigated the aggregation of yeast prion proteins and the engineering of functional amyloid fibrils, as well as cellular mechanisms for maintaining protein homeostasis, with a specific focus on incomplete nascent polypeptides synthesized at stalled ribosomes.
Dr. Choe received his PhD from Seoul National University in Korea, where he studied the mechanism of the aggregation of yeast prion proteins. He continued his postdoctoral research at the same institution, attempting to engineer functional amyloid fibrils. He then joined the research group of Dr. F. Ulrich Hartl at the Max-Planck-Institute of Biochemistry in Germany to investigate how cells maintain protein homeostasis.
For contact, Dr. Choe can be reached at yjchoe@ntu.edu.sg.
