Cho Kwong Charlie Lam is a Lecturer in Environmental Intelligence at the University of Plymouth (UK), affiliated with the School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences. He holds a PhD in Atmospheric Sciences (Monash University, Australia) and previously served as a Research Fellow at Sun Yat-sen University (China). His work focuses on urban climate informatics, investigating how environmental factors (thermal, visual, acoustic, air quality) impact human health and well-being. He leads the MSc Data Science and Environmental Intelligence program and teaches modules including Terrestrial Environmental Sensors and Big Data.
Research interests span climate change adaptation, urban design for health equity, and interdisciplinary methods combining biometeorology, epidemiology, and social science. Key projects include studies on street canyon microclimates, thermal comfort in subtropical cities, and urban heat mitigation strategies for Guangzhou. He has secured grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China and Guangdong Province, focusing on sustainable urban design and health monitoring.
Publications analyze cross-modal effects of environmental stimuli, thermal adaptation in diverse populations, and the role of vegetation in urban microclimates. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on climate action and sustainable cities. Contact: A501 Portland Square, Plymouth, UK | charlie.lam@plymouth.ac.uk
