Chloë Moss serves as a Lecturer in Playwriting at the Centre for New Writing, University of Manchester, where she contributes to creative writing pedagogy while maintaining an active professional career in theatre and television.
Her artistic practice centers on contemporary drama exploring personal identity, social reintegration, and human relationships, with recurring themes of women's experiences, urban vulnerability, and emotional resilience across both stage and screen formats.
Moss's recent creative trajectory (2014-2016) demonstrates a shift toward site-specific theatre (Handle with Care, I Do) and television drama (Care), addressing systemic social issues through intimate character studies. Earlier works like This Wide Night (2009) and How Love is Spelt (2002) established her focus on post-incarceration dynamics and coming-of-age narratives within metropolitan settings.
Her distinguished recognition includes:
- Susan Smith Blackburn Prize for This Wide Night
Moss currently holds commissions from major institutions including Soho Theatre, Royal Court Theatre, and Headlong Theatre, while developing original television projects for Hillbilly Films, CBBC, and BBC Radio 4.
