Dr. Chiqian Zhang is an Assistant Professor in the Civil Engineering Program at Arkansas State University's College of Engineering & Computer Science (since August 2023). Previously, he served as an Assistant Professor at Southern University and A&M College (2022-2023), conducted postdoctoral research at Georgia Institute of Technology (until 2019), and worked in industry as a microbiologist (2019-2021). He holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Missouri (2018), an M.S. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Nebraska (2011), and additional degrees from Tsinghua University and Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology.

Utilizes next-generation sequencing and bioinformatics to study complex environmental systems. Publications appear in journals like Water Research and Environmental Science and Technology.
Teaching: Instructs courses including Environmental Engineering fundamentals, Biochemical Processes for Water Treatment, Hydraulics, and Engineering Economics. Supervises laboratory modules in Mechanics of Materials.
Professional Credentials: Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) certified in Michigan (2012).
