Dr. Chin-Chih Chen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Counseling and Special Education at Virginia Commonwealth University's School of Education. Her research focuses on understanding risk and protective factors influencing school adjustment in children and adolescents, with emphasis on evidence-based interventions for academic, social, and behavioral challenges. She holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Minnesota, alongside M.A. and B.A. degrees in Special Education from Taiwan institutions.
Dr. Chen's work spans developmental precursors of behavior, antisocial tendencies in high-incidence disability populations, and systemic disparities affecting marginalized students. Recent research includes studies on peer victimization dynamics, truancy patterns among urban youth, and the intersectionality of demographic factors in social-emotional development. Her interdisciplinary approach integrates ecological systems theory with culturally responsive interventions.
Publications highlight innovative methodologies such as latent class growth analysis and sequential analysis of behavioral interactions. Collaborations with community organizations inform translational research aimed at improving educational equity.
