Dr. CHEN Chih-Ying is a Full-time Associate Professor at the School of Accountancy, Singapore Management University, and serves as the Co-Director of School of Accountancy Research (SOAR). He is also an active member of editorial boards for journals including Auditing: A Journal of Practice and Theory, International Journal of Auditing, and Accounting and Finance.
- Education: PhD in Accounting from University of California, Berkeley; MBA from University of Rochester; MAcc from Soochow University, Taiwan; BA from National Taiwan University.
Dr. Chen’s research focuses on Accounting Information Systems, Analyst Forecasts, Audit Quality, and Corporate Governance, particularly in emerging markets. His work explores the interplay between Financial Reporting, Earnings Management, and Executive Compensation, with a secondary interest in Sustainability Reporting and Risk Management.
Recent research trends include: 1) The impact of cybersecurity breaches on analyst behavior (2025); 2) Regulatory reforms like NASD Rule 2711 on analyst independence (2005–2012); 3) Audit firm structure and fraudulent reporting (2008–2010); and 4) executive compensation mechanisms linked to earnings management (2011).
- Scientific Awards: Lee Kuan Yew Fellowship for Research Excellence (2009), Most Outstanding Faculty Award (2008), Wayne S. Boutell Memorial Teaching Award (1996), and Outstanding Teaching Award (1996).
