Dr. Chil-Hung Cheng is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Toronto Metropolitan University, affiliated with the Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science. He holds a PhD from Texas A&M University, a MASc from National Chung Cheng University, and a BSc from National Central University. His research focuses on nanoporous materials, crystal engineering, and heterogeneous catalysis, with applications in greenhouse gas capture and sustainable technologies. He leads a lab developing porous membranes to selectively capture molecules, aiming to mitigate environmental impacts from industries like coal plants.
Education:
- PhD in Chemical Engineering, Texas A&M University (2005)
- MASc in Chemical Engineering, National Chung Cheng University (1996)
- BSc in Chemical Engineering, National Central University (1994)
Research emphasizes synthesizing structured nanoporous materials and overcoming challenges in predicting membrane morphology. His work bridges material design with real-world environmental solutions. He teaches courses such as CHE 319 (Process Modeling & Simulation), CHE 420 (Particulate Engineering), and CE8604 (Advances in Porous Materials). His lab is located in Kerr Hall South (KHS-250), and he is available to supervise graduate students.
