Dr. Chika Esiobu is a Visiting Assistant Professor of African Studies at Soka University of America. She holds a Ph.D. in African Studies from Howard University, focusing on Indigenous knowledge systems and their role in global discourse. Her research spans education, environment, health, postcoloniality, agriculture, and cultural studies, with a particular emphasis on Africa's socio-economic development. Dr. Esiobu has contributed to numerous academic publications, including books such as Indigenous Knowledge and Education in Africa (Springer, 2020), and is a regular columnist for the PanAfrican Review. She has collaborated with global institutions like the World Bank, UN agencies, and the African Union to address challenges in education, healthcare, and sustainable development. Her work advocates for decolonizing African education systems, promoting Indigenous knowledge, and fostering policies rooted in local realities. Dr. Esiobu teaches courses on Indigenous knowledge, traditional medicine, and African history, emphasizing critical thinking and ethical leadership.
Key contributions include advocating for compulsory Ethnic Studies in African schools, exploring the environmental and health benefits of traditional practices, and critiquing global inequities in access to medicines.
