Chiara Robbiano

Dr. Chiara Robbiano is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at University College Utrecht (Utrecht University, NL). She serves as Chair of the Diversity Committee and Lecturer in the China Studies track. Her academic background includes a PhD in Classics from Leiden University (2005) and an MA in Philosophy from Università degli Studi di Genova (1996). She holds teaching qualifications from Utrecht University (2009, 2017) and the Westerdijk Leadership Program (2021-2022).

Her work emphasizes epistemic friction and real dialogues across differences to challenge unexamined assumptions.

Grants & Awards include the VIS grant (2022), Toshiba Foundation grant (2016), and multiple CONNECT/PURE grants for collaborative philosophy initiatives. She was shortlisted for the Utrecht University Outstanding Teacher Award (2018) and Honors Teacher of the Year (2017).

Publications appear in journals like Philosophy East and West, Journal of World Philosophies, and Journal of Buddhist Philosophy. She co-edited Key Concepts in World Philosophies (Bloomsbury, 2023) and contributed to OUP Buddhist-Platonist Dialogues.
