Chiara Pompa is a tenure-track researcher at the University of Bologna's Department of the Arts, specializing in contemporary art history with a focus on photography, fashion, and immersive technologies. She holds a PhD in Visual, Performing, and Media Arts from the University of Bologna and has served as Managing Editor of the journal piano b. Arti e Culture visive, Coordinator of the CFC—Culture Fashion Communication International Research Centre, and Fellow at the Photography Art Feminisms (FAF) Research Centre.

Her research explores intersections of art, fashion, and technology, including the role of photography in late 20th-century art-fashion exchanges and the application of immersive technologies to fashion heritage preservation. Key awards include the 2015 Business Culture Award and a National Scientific Qualification for Associate Professor (2023–2034). She has coordinated projects like the 'Out of the Archives' workshop and contributed to initiatives such as the CRICC research center (POR-FESR 2014–2021).
