Chiara Maiocchi is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Management Science and Operations at London Business School, where she teaches analytics-oriented courses integrating mathematics, modeling, and data-driven decision-making into business applications.
Education:
- BSc in Pure Mathematics (University of Milan)
- MSc in Applied Mathematics (Heriot-Watt University)
- MRes and PhD in Mathematics of Planet Earth (Imperial College London and University of Reading)
Her research focuses on complex and chaotic systems, particularly in climate and atmospheric dynamics. She develops mathematical and modeling tools to estimate statistical properties of atmospheric models, enabling the detection of large-scale persistent weather patterns like heat waves.
Chiara is a member of the Centre for Mathematics of Planet Earth, an interdisciplinary institution bridging mathematics, geoscience, and theoretical physics. Her work has been published in journals such as Physica D and Chaos.
