Chiara Forlati is a Lecturer in Economics at the University of Southampton since 2014. Prior to this role, she held a research fellowship at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne after completing her PhD at Universitat Pompeu Fabra. Her research focuses on Macroeconomics, Monetary Economics, and International Economics, with a particular emphasis on trade policies, climate-related border adjustments, and the implications of monetary unions.
Her research projects include the Horizon Europe-funded 'ENTICE' initiative exploring trade impacts on climate and the environment, as well as a study on carbon border adjustments supported by the ESRC. Recent work examines monopolistic competition frameworks in trade policies and the design of effective environmental policies.
Dr. Forlati supervises PhD students in Economics, including Changxin Gu and Xinyue Zhang. She actively participates in interdisciplinary research collaborations and maintains a personal webpage for extended research documentation.
