Chiara De Lucia is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at King's College London, affiliated with the School of Neuroscience and Department of Basic & Clinical Neuroscience. She holds a BSc in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Southampton and an MSc in Neuroscience from King's College London, followed by a PhD in the Thuret laboratory at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience. Her research focuses on adult neurogenesis in health and disease, particularly investigating how nutrition, lifestyle, and epigenetic factors influence cognitive aging and dementia risk.
Dr. De Lucia leads the ACID clinical trial exploring anthocyanin supplementation's effects in older adults at dementia risk. She collaborates with Prof. Aarsland and Dr. Thuret on projects involving biomarker development for neurocognitive disorders. Her work contributes to the Research Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing, which develops diagnostic tools for Alzheimer's disease and related disorders. Key interests include neuroinflammation modulation, microglial function, and the gut-brain axis's role in cognitive decline.
Her research has been published in journals like GeroScience, Neural Regeneration Research, and Ageing Research Reviews. She actively participates in multidisciplinary networks such as the Norwegian Centre on Healthy Ageing (No-Age) and the DEMON Network. Current projects emphasize personalized interventions using inflammatory biomarkers and polyphenol supplementation strategies.
