Prof Dag Aarsland is a Professor and Head of the Department of Old Age Psychiatry at King’s College London’s Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience. He also serves as Research Director at the Centre for Age-Related Medicine, Stavanger University Hospital. His expertise spans translational research on neuropsychiatric aspects of neurodegenerative diseases, particularly focusing on cognitive decline in Parkinson’s disease, dementia with Lewy bodies, and biomarker studies using neuroimaging, CSF, and EEG.
As a senior consultant in geriatric psychiatry, Prof Aarsland leads national and international research projects, including the European DLB Consortium. He chairs the ISTAART Professional Interest Group for Lewy Body Dementias and oversees the Dementia theme at the Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre. With over 500 publications, his work emphasizes clinical trials, cohort studies, and innovative biomarker applications.
