Cheryl Boudreau is a Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of California, Davis. Her research focuses on how voters make political decisions, particularly the impact of political information such as endorsements, voter guides, and public opinion polls. She employs experimental methods in survey, laboratory, and field settings to investigate voter behavior under different informational conditions. Boudreau emphasizes conditions under which information aids uninformed voters to act as informed decision-makers, contributing to understanding democratic processes.
She holds a Ph.D. from the University of California, San Diego, and a B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis. Boudreau currently serves as an Associate Principal Investigator for Time-Sharing Experiments in the Social Sciences (TESS). Previously, she was an Associate Editor for the Journal of Experimental Political Science (2018-2022) and Director of Graduate Studies at UC Davis (2016-2021). Her work bridges political theory, experimental methods, and real-world democratic institutions.
Her research trends reveal a focus on information transparency, institutional effects on decision-making, and the interplay between racial/ethnic representation and voter behavior. Articles highlight experimental designs to assess how information dissemination influences policy support, institutional trust, and electoral outcomes. She explores topics like donor transparency in initiatives, racial voting patterns, and the impact of social movements on public opinion.
