Cheryl Ann Lambert is an Associate Professor and Graduate Coordinator in the School of Media and Journalism at Kent State University, part of the College of Communication & Information. Her research focuses on public relations portrayal in media/popular culture, health messaging strategies, and crisis communication. She holds a Ph.D. in Communication and Information (University of Tennessee, 2008), M.A. in Journalism (Temple University, 1996), and B.A. in English (Illinois State University, 1992).
Before academia, she worked in corporate PR at Sears and editorial roles at Chilton Publishing. Her blog PRDepiction uniquely examines public relations in media. Awards include the 2015 Kopenhaver Fellow for Advancement of Women in Communication.
Her research explores media framing in health crises (e.g., Ebola coverage), fake news management strategies, and protest narratives like Colin Kaepernick’s anthem protests. Publications address international journalism challenges in Taiwan and fictional portrayals of PR professionals in primetime TV.
