Cherie Adkins

Cherie Adkins, Ph.D., R.N., is an Associate Professor at the Dr. Donald E. and Lois J. Myers School of Nursing and Health Professions at York College of Pennsylvania. Her work focuses on adult education, transformative learning theory, and health promotion, particularly for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities.

Adkins' research integrates transformative learning theory with clinical nursing education and health promotion. She explores maternal-infant interactions in neonatal intensive care units and applies Christian theological principles to nursing pedagogy.

Her publications address neonatal stress behaviors, maternal narratives of preterm birth, and theory evaluation. Key journals include Advances in Neonatal Care and Advances in Nursing Science.

Adkins has presented at conferences such as the Eastern Nursing Research Society and Sigma Theta Tau International. She has held leadership roles in professional organizations and served as a nursing consultant in Kenya.
