Cheri X. Deng is the Chairperson and Tom and Lupe Izzo Endowed Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Michigan's College of Engineering. She holds a B.S. in Physics from Nanjing University (1985), an M.S. in Acoustics from Nanjing University (1988), and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Yale University (1995). Her research focuses on biomedical ultrasound technologies, spanning fundamental tissue interactions to translational applications in imaging, drug delivery, and tissue regeneration. She has served on key university committees, including the College of Engineering Executive Committee (2022–2025), advising on strategic planning and academic policy. Dr. Deng has mentored numerous graduate and undergraduate researchers and contributed to curriculum development in biomedical engineering.
