Cheri Orr serves as a Lecturer in Dance within the Department of Dance at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, part of the College of Letters, Arts & Sciences. She maintains active professional affiliations as a company dancer with Ormao Dance Company and founder of Jubilee Arts Collective.
Her educational foundation includes a Bachelor of Arts in Dance from Belhaven University (Magna Cum Laude), where she performed with Ballet Magnificat! II and served as founding president of the DOXA dance club. Trained under Victoria Fedine, Gayle Corkery, Julie Ballew, and Dian Clough West, she developed expertise across ballet, modern, jazz, and tap disciplines.
Orr's artistic practice centers on community-engaged dance with dual emphases: therapeutic applications through Dance for Parkinson's classes, and transformative interventions in underserved settings via Jubilee Dance Company. Her work deliberately targets non-traditional venues including correctional facilities, trauma centers, and transitional housing, using movement as a vehicle for restoration.
Professional recognition includes Belhaven University's 2022 Arts Excellence Alumni Award honoring her two-decade teaching career across Colorado Springs studios, schools, hospitals, and wellness centers. As a certified Pilates instructor, she integrates somatic principles into dance pedagogy.

Orr's educational impact extends beyond campus through Jubilee Arts Collective, where she directs dance initiatives that bridge artistic excellence with social service. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes technical precision alongside the emotional and physical joy of movement, informed by extensive professional performance experience and community-based practice.
The Jubilee Dance Company model demonstrates her commitment to making dance accessible in unconventional spaces, creating pathways for artistic expression among populations typically excluded from traditional dance settings.
