Chen Kun-Shan is a distinguished academic holding the title of National Distinguished Professor at the College of Geomatic and Geoinformation, Guilin University of Technology, China, and concurrently serves as a National Distinguished Professor at the State Key Lab. Remote Sensing Science under the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He also holds adjunct professorships at Xuchang University and has held prominent roles such as Chair Professor at National Central University, Taiwan, and visiting positions at institutions including the University of Washington and University of California, Santa Barbara.
His research focuses on radar signal analysis, electromagnetic scattering, synthetic aperture radar systems, and remote sensing applications. He has been recognized with prestigious awards including the IEEE GRSS Ulaby Award (2021), IEEE Fellowship (2007), and the Chinese Academy of Sciences Distinguished Professorship (2017–2020). His career spans over two decades in academia and research, contributing significantly to geomatics and remote sensing fields.
Prof. Chen’s professional service includes leadership roles in academic organizations and editorial positions in key journals. His work bridges theoretical advancements with practical applications in remote sensing technology.
