Chelsey Hamm is an Associate Professor in the Department of Performing Arts - Music at Christopher Newport University (CNU), where she also serves in the Honors Program and the Center for Sustainability in Education. She holds roles as Director of Music Theory and Aural Skills. Her expertise spans music theory, musicology, and pedagogy, with a focus on musical meaning, text-music relationships, and 20th/21st-century music. She earned a Ph.D. in Music Theory from Indiana University, an M.M. from Florida State University, and B.M. degrees from Ithaca College.

Research & Teaching: Her research explores Charles Ives, medieval music theory, popular music analysis (e.g., Kesha), and music pedagogy. She has published in journals like the Indiana Theory Review and books such as The Routledge Companion to Music Theory Pedagogy. She teaches music theory, aural skills, and analytical techniques.
