Chelsea Cole

Chelsea Cole is an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Family and Community Medicine and Orthopedic Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center, serving as Director of Sports and Musculoskeletal Medicine. She holds clinical privileges at Parkland Health, Clements University Hospital, and Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas. Her roles include Team Physician for RL Turner High School and coverage for NCAA events, the Senior PGA Championship, and mass participation events.

• Education: M.D. from St. George’s University School of Medicine (with honors), Family Medicine Residency at UT Southwestern (Chief Resident), and Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at LSU Health Sciences Center.
• Clinical Expertise: Focuses on diagnostic/therapeutic musculoskeletal ultrasound, procedural interventions (e.g., tendon injuries, nerve hydrodissection), fracture management, and concussion protocols.

Her academic engagement includes leading musculoskeletal and POCUS curricula for UTSW’s Family Medicine Residency, simulation education as Curriculum Lead, and contributions to national committees in the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM). She has published peer-reviewed research, textbook chapters, and clinical reviews on musculoskeletal medicine, POCUS, and pre-participation evaluations.

Education Advocacy: Designs high-fidelity simulation workshops for acute care and ultrasound-guided procedures, actively mentors medical students, and drives medical student outreach initiatives through AMSSM.
