Charlotte Woodhead is an Associate Professor in the School of Law at the University of Warwick. Her research focuses on cultural heritage law, particularly restitution and repatriation of museum collections, legal and ethical obligations of museums, and narratives in museum labels. She authored Caring for Cultural Heritage: An Integrated Approach to Legal and Ethical Initiatives in the United Kingdom (2023), analyzing UK frameworks through a care ethics lens. Her work bridges legal mechanisms and moral responsibilities, addressing global challenges in cultural heritage preservation.
Her research explores the UK’s Spoliation Advisory Panel’s role, comparative law approaches to restitution, and ethical custody of human remains. Recent projects include examining museum label narratives as responses to repatriation claims, blending legal analysis with cultural discourse.
