Dr Charlotte Tye is a Senior Lecturer in Psychology and Epilepsy Research UK/Autistica Fellow with significant contributions to neurodevelopmental research. She holds positions on the International League Against Epilepsy Pediatric Psychiatric Issues Taskforce and the Epilepsy Research Institute Scientific Advisory Committee.
Her research focuses on characterising development in young children with rare genetic conditions and epilepsy, identifying infant precursors of autism and ADHD through longitudinal studies using EEG, eye-tracking, and cognitive measures. She actively promotes patient and public involvement in research (PPIE) and has developed multiple collaborative initiatives in this area.
Dr Tye's recent publication trends show strong emphasis on systematic reviews of assessment methodologies, rare disease research (particularly tuberous sclerosis complex), and multinational autism genomics projects. Her work spans clinical psychology, neuroscience, and rare disease research with practical applications for early intervention.
- BACD Castang Foundation Neurodisability Research Fellowship (2019)
- British Psychological Society Developmental Section Margaret Donaldson Award (2023)
As Principal Investigator on multiple active grants including projects funded by Action Medical Research, NIHR, Epilepsy Research UK, and UKIST, Dr Tye maintains a robust research program with several longitudinal studies tracking developmental outcomes in children with epilepsy. Her supervision includes doctoral candidates and postdoctoral researchers through her various funded projects.
Dr Tye leads PPIE initiatives that directly involve people with lived experience in research design and implementation, creating a collaborative research environment focused on real-world impact for families affected by neurodevelopmental conditions and epilepsy.
