Dr. Charlotte Lydia Riley is an Associate Professor at the University of Southampton's Department of History, specializing in modern British history with a focus on empire, decolonization, and political movements. Her research explores the interplay between British imperialism and domestic society, particularly through cultural, social, and political archives. She is the author of the acclaimed book *Imperial Island: A History of Empire in Modern Britain* (2023), examining post-WWII imperial legacies. Additionally, she investigates contemporary free speech debates and the Labour Party's ethical identity. Riley teaches modules on British social/cultural history, gender studies, and Labour Party history.
