Dr. Charlotte Faircloth is a Visiting Lecturer in Sociology at the University of Kent’s School of Social Sciences and a founding member of the Centre for Parenting Culture Studies. She holds a Lecturer position at UCL Institute of Education. Her research focuses on modern parenthood, gender dynamics in caregiving, and public health policy, blending social anthropology and sociology.
Education: MA (Hons) Archaeology and Anthropology, MPhil Social Anthropological Research, PhD (Cantab) Social Anthropology, and PGCHE.
Research interests include parenting cultures, kinship studies, and the societal implications of caregiving norms. She has authored/co-edited key volumes like Feeding Children Inside and Outside the Home and Parenting in Global Perspective.
Awards: Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellowship (201X–201X) and Mildred Blaxter Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship. Grants include funding for her work on gender equality in parenting.
Teaching spans gender studies, research methodology, and family sociology at UCL, Kent, and Cambridge. She actively contributes to the Centre for Parenting Culture Studies, exploring intersections of intimacy, equality, and parenting practices globally.
