Professor Charlotte Allen is a Professor in the School of Earth & Atmospheric Sciences at Queensland University of Technology (QUT). She serves as the Director of QUT's Central Analytical Research Facility (CARF), which provides advanced analytical support for researchers and industry. Her expertise lies in granite chemistry, geochronology, and ICPMS techniques, with a focus on U-Pb dating of minerals like zircon and trace element analysis. She has over 20 years of experience in managing ICPMS facilities and has contributed to extending laser-ICPMS applications to organic compounds.
Previously employed at the Australian National University's Research School of Earth Sciences, she moved to QUT in 2013 to oversee CARF's Elements and Isotopes laboratory. Her research integrates fieldwork, microscopy, and geochemical analysis to study continental crust evolution and crustal processes. She collaborates with industries such as Pacific Aluminum, BHP Copper, and the Queensland Police Service.
Professor Allen's teaching focuses on hands-on training in ICP-MS technology for students and researchers. Her work bridges academic and applied research, emphasizing transdisciplinary analytical support for diverse projects.
