Her work explores how working conditions across the life course influence successful aging, social exclusion, and cognitive decline. Key projects include:
- SWEAH Alumni Interdisciplinary Network (SAIN) (2023-2025): Funded by the Kamprad Family Foundation, this initiative supports early-career aging researchers.
- Stress Across the Life Course (2022-2025): Investigates modifiable social/lifestyle factors affecting late-life cognitive/physical function.
- Working Conditions and Fourth Age (2020-2023): Examines how adverse work environments expand the "fourth age" (frailty) and funded by Forte.
- Gender and Caregiver Burden (2020-2023): Demonstrates how caregiving children's work stressors impact older parents' mental health.
Recent publications highlight:
- Adverse working conditions increase old-age dependency (2023)
- Low-control jobs correlate with cognitive/physical impairment in older adults (2023)
- Job strain accelerates cognitive decline before/after retirement (2021)
- Midlife risk factors (non-employment, psychological health) predict late-life social exclusion (2022)
