Charles Wang serves as Associate Vice President for China & East Asia Affairs and Professor of Practice at the University of Arizona's James E. Rogers College of Law. His roles involve fostering international collaborations, navigating legal frameworks in East Asia, and teaching comparative law to both US and Chinese students. He has held judicial positions in China's court system for 15 years, including Chief Judge at the Qingdao Maritime Court, and later served as a Visiting Foreign Judge in Maryland's courts.
Education includes a JD from University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law, and LLM degrees in US Law (University of Baltimore), International Economic Law (Shandong University), and Shipping Law (Dalian Maritime University).
Research focuses on cross-border litigation, international arbitration, and maritime law. Prior to academia, he advised global private equity funds on China investments and practiced cross-border dispute resolution. He has held residency fellowships at the Federal Judicial Center and University of Baltimore School of Law.
