Charles Vergon

Charles "Chuck" Vergon is a Lecturer II in Education at the College of Arts, Sciences and Education, University of Michigan-Flint, with over 30 years of experience teaching graduate and doctoral courses in educational leadership and public administration. His career spans legal, administrative, and academic roles, including leadership positions at federally funded civil rights organizations and university appointments across multiple institutions.

Vergon's research focuses on the intersection of public law, education, and youth policy, emphasizing equity in race, gender, language, and disability rights, as well as student discipline, school safety, child abuse, and interprofessional clinical education. He has contributed to funded grants from the Department of Education, including the Program for Educational Opportunity in 1987 and 1988.

As an active attorney licensed in Ohio since 1972, he has provided legal and planning services to urban school districts in the Great Lakes region. His current course offerings include EDL 520: Introduction to School Law.
