Charles (Chad) Newsom is Professor of Cinema Studies at Savannah College of Art and Design, serving since 2014. He holds a PhD in English from University of Florida and an M.A. in Cinema Studies from SCAD.
His research analyzes melodrama conventions in classic Hollywood cinema, with emphasis on stardom, narrative construction, and historical reception. Recent work examines Jennifer Jones' star persona and Freudian themes in Hitchcock's films.
