Mr. Charles J. Casserly is an Instructor in the Sport Management department at George Mason University's School of Sport, Recreation, and Tourism Management. He has extensive experience in professional sports, serving as General Manager of the Washington Redskins (1989-1999) and Houston Texans (2000-2006), during which the Redskins achieved four Super Bowl appearances and three victories. Casserly transitioned to academia in 2007, contributing to student internships through his industry connections. His career includes roles in sports broadcasting with CBS and the NFL Network, as well as consulting for the NCAA's Champion’s Forum and NFL Career Advisory Committee.
Education: MEd from Springfield College. He holds honorary doctorate recognition and is inducted into two halls of fame. Casserly teaches courses like Special Topics in Sport Management and advises on professional development. His expertise spans sport management leadership, NFL operations, and athletic administration.
Notable contributions include mentoring aspiring college coaches and facilitating industry partnerships. He remains active in sports governance through advisory roles focused on coach and executive development.
