Charles Cobb holds the James E. Lockwood, Jr. Professorship in Florida and Caribbean Archaeology and serves as Curator of Historical Archaeology at the Florida Museum of Natural History, University of Florida, with additional affiliation in the Department of Anthropology.

Dr. Cobb's research spans interdisciplinary domains including pre-colonial and Spanish colonial Native American societies, cultural history, and material culture studies. As one of the leading archaeologists in the U.S. for understanding Florida's indigenous communities and historic battlegrounds, his work integrates archaeological evidence with historical records to reconstruct societal transformations during European contact periods. His investigations extend to the history of art and religion within Caribbean and southeastern U.S. contexts.
