Julia A. King is a Professor of Anthropology and Department Chair at St. Mary's College of Maryland. She holds a Ph.D. in American Civilization from the University of Pennsylvania (1990), with prior degrees from The College of William and Mary (B.A., 1978) and Florida State University (M.A., 1981). Her research focuses on historical archaeology, Indigenous history, and colonialism in the Chesapeake region. She has received major grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and held fellowships at Harvard's Dumbarton Oaks, the Virginia Historical Society, and Winterthur Museum.
