Roxanne Watson

Roxanne Watson is Associate Professor at the University of South Florida's Zimmerman School, teaching journalism and communications law. With a Ph.D. in Mass Communications (University of Florida) and legal credentials from the University of the West Indies, her research examines defamation law reform, press freedom histories, and comparative media regulation across the Caribbean, U.S., and U.K.

Her scholarly work analyzes:

• Historical prosecutions of journalists in colonial Jamaica
• Contemporary libel law reforms
• Regulation of broadcast content
• Comparative analysis of Commonwealth legal systems

She supervises graduate research and partners with legal organizations to advance media law education.
