Charles A. Hoeffer is an Associate Professor in the Department of Integrative Physiology and Institute for Behavioral Genetics at the University of Colorado Boulder. He directs research on molecular mechanisms of neurological disorders.
Education includes a B.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Arizona, a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the same institution, and postdoctoral training at Baylor College of Medicine and New York University.
Research interests focus on protein synthesis regulation in synaptic plasticity, memory formation, and neurological disorders including Down syndrome and schizophrenia. His work examines aging, stress responses, and neurodegeneration pathways.
Honors include multiple fellowships and awards for neurogenetics research.
Current grants support investigations into sleep disruption in Alzheimer's disease, glial cell functions in nicotine addiction, and peptide therapeutics for dementia. The Molecular Signaling of Neurological Disorders Laboratory includes professional researchers and predoctoral trainees.
